Guangdong Petrochemical 1.2 million tons/year ethylene plant delivered at the end of June

On 28 March, the substation of Guangdong Petrochemical project's 1.2 million tonnes/year ethylene plant was successfully electrified once, becoming the first substation in the chemical zone to complete electrification.

The substation, as the first unit of ethylene plant commissioning, provided power guarantee for the smooth operation of the project's later stand-alone commissioning, instrument calibration and other projects.

At the same time, as the power load dispatch centre of the plant, the substation will comprehensively monitor the power operation safety of all areas of the plant, laying a solid foundation for the plant to be delivered.

Guangdong Petrochemical Project is the first super heavy and poor quality crude oil processing base in China.

The project is located in Dananhai Petrochemical Industrial Zone, Jieyang City, covering an area of 953 hectares, with a construction scale of 20 million tonnes/year of oil refining + 2.6 million tonnes/year of aromatics + 1.2 million tonnes/year of ethylene.

The plant will also be equipped with a 300,000-ton crude oil terminal, a product terminal with a maximum berth of 100,000 tonnes, a long-distance pipeline, a crude oil transshipment depot, a railway and sewage treatment facilities.

The ethylene plant adopts Huanqiu's own ethylene process technology and is scheduled to be delivered on June 30, 2022.

According to the feedstock situation, the cracking furnace adopts a high steam production process.

After the cracking gas is cooled by the traditional primary emergency cooler, it is also further cooled by the boiler feed water to cool down the cracking gas again.

In order to improve the coke removal cycle of the cracker, the radiating section stove pipe adopts an enhanced form of heat transfer to reduce the tendency of coking on the inner surface of the stove pipe, increasing the coke removal cycle by more than 30%.
