Your 'tobacco taste' is just as unhealthy as secondhand smoke.

Like second-hand smoke, smokers'light tobacco flavor also poses health risks to others. A recent overseas study shows that this three hand smoke can also damage human respiratory epithelial cells, and long-term exposure will increase the risk of cancer.

Researchers asked 4 healthy non-smokers to contact three hand smoke for 3 hours in a row, and then extract RNA (RNA) from their nasal scraps. The results showed that 382 genes were overexpressed and 7 genes were low expressed. Because the gene expression of nasal epithelial cells is similar to that of bronchial epithelial cells, this finding implies that three hand smoke may also affect the epithelial cells of respiratory system. The researchers point out that inhaling three hand smoke can alter the pathways associated with oxidative stress and damage human genetic material. Inhalation of three hand smoke is unlikely to cause damage within 3 hours, but exposure to three hand smoke at home or in a car for a long time may be harmful to health and potentially cancer risk. In addition, the study also found that transient exposure to three hand smoke had an effect on mitochondrial activity. Mitochondria are organelles that provide energy for cells. Problems can lead to cell death. Leaf Said, a professor of cell biology at University of California, said in a statement that this is the first study to reveal the direct effects of three hand smoke on human gene expression.
