Goodbye to Niutoushan Coal Mine, which will be handed over to Guangde County

According to Zhejiang Daily, on July 24, Guangde County of Anhui Province, Changxing County of Zhejiang Province and Changguang Group of Zhejiang Province officially launched the transfer of assets and social management and service functions in Niutoushan Mining Area. So far, the Niutoushan mining area, which has been closed for six years and is known as "the last coal mine in Zhejiang", has formally set a deadline for the transfer of management to Guangde County.

It is reported that the functions of assets and social management and service in Niutoushan mining area will be handed over before September 26. The personnel of Changguang Group and relevant functional organizations in Changxing County will be withdrawn from Niutoushan mining area as a whole, and the functions of state-owned assets and social management, judicial, administrative and public service in the mining area will be handed over in an all-round way. According to preliminary statistics, over 330,000 square meters of ground buildings and 5,400 mu of land were built in the area where the mining area was handed over.

Niutoushan Mining Area, also known as Changguang Coal Mine, is located at the junction of Guangde County and Changxing County, and most of the areas under its jurisdiction belong to Anhui Province. Due to historical reasons, its coal mines are attributed to the unified mining of Zhejiang Province.

In August 1958, Changguang Coal Mine was born, forming a unique situation of "surface Anhui pipe, underground Zhejiang digging". In the 1980s, Changguang Coal Mine entered a brilliant period of production, producing more than 1 million tons of coal, accounting for one third of the total coal consumption in Zhejiang Province at that time.

In the late 1990s, with the exhaustion of coal resources and the transformation of economic structure, the mine of Changguang Coal Mine gradually entered the shutdown procedure.

In August 2013, according to the request of Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Provincial Government, No. 7 mine of Changguang Coal Mine was declared closed, which means that the history of coal production in Zhejiang has been completely ended.
