Investigation And Analysis Of Pharmacists' Acceptance And Safety Of Generic Drugs And Original Drugs Of Metformin
Type 2 diabetes has become one of the major chronic non-communicable diseases affecting the health of the global residents, and its incidence in China is gradually increasing. Diabetes diagnosis and treatment guidelines formulated by many countries and international organizations recommend metformin as the first-line drug for hyperglycemia control in patients with type 2 diabetes and the basic drug in drug combination. At present, the metformin used clinically in China includes a variety of products produced by original manufacturers and generic manufacturers. Among them, the original research drug was developed by Merck and produced by Sino-US Shanghai Squibb Co., Ltd. Metformin hydrochloride tablets. There are many manufacturers of metformin generic drugs in China, and the products include various dosage forms such as ordinary tablets, sustained-release or enteric-coated tablets.
A generic drug is a drug with the same active ingredients, dosage form, route of administration and therapeutic effect as the original drug. Some studies believe that the level of imitation technology of Chinese generic drugs is limited, and there are differences in the efficacy of the original drugs. The clinical help and advice provided by clinical pharmacists to physicians can play an important role, and their attitudes in the actual use of original and generic drugs also reflect the difference between original and generic drugs. This article aims to understand use differences and safety of generic drugs and original drugs in clinical practice.
Pharmacists' attitudes toward safety of generic drugs
The difference in safety and efficacy between the original brand drug and the generic drug directly affects the problem of drug selection for patients. According to the survey, respondents often pay attention to the development status of original brand drugs and generic drugs, which shows that pharmacists pay more attention to the differences between original brand drugs and generic drugs. Pharmacist intervention plays an important role in clinical rational drug use, so it is very important for pharmacists to understand the gap between original brand drugs and generic drugs. Metformin is clinically mainly used to reduce fasting and postprandial blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes, so its hypoglycemic effect is an important indicator of its effectiveness. According to the survey results, in terms of blood sugar control effect, more respondents believe that the safety of original drugs is better than the safety of generic drug. Thus it can be seen pharmacists have weak confidence in the therapeutic effect and safety of generic drugs, which shows that Chinese metformin nursing drugs cannot replace the original drugs to a large extent at this stage. The study found that the quality of the related substances and contents of the generic metformin and the original drug products are comparable, but there are differences in the dissolution rate, and the stability of the generic drug preparation process is far from that of the original research drug. The existing evidence cannot fully support the consistency of metformin generic drugs with the original brand drugs, and some generic drugs may have a certain gap compared with the original brand drugs in terms of pharmaceutical characteristics, bioequivalence and clinical consistency. Under normal circumstances, the price of generic drugs is lower than that of original drugs. Under the mandatory requirements of the regulatory mechanism, the first generic drug in the market, that is, the first generic drug, has the highest price, and subsequent generic drugs include the same product or similar drugs, and the price will be further reduced.
Attitudes of pharmacists on the exchange of original research drugs and domestic generic drugs
The original drug and the generic drug are theoretically bioequivalent and can be substituted for each other. It should be pointed out that among the factors affecting the actual dressing change, the number of people who choose the safety of the drug and the patient's willingness is the same. That is to say, in actual work, in addition to considering the efficacy and safety, the patient's own willingness plays a significant role in changing medicines for patients. A survey of participants who replaced generic metformin with original brand drugs showed that more patients had improved blood sugar control after switching from generic drugs to original brand drugs, and some patients had fewer gastrointestinal adverse reactions. In contrast, after switching from the original drug to the generic drug, there are many patients with no difference in the effect of blood sugar control and gastrointestinal adverse reactions. From this result, it can be speculated that the safety of original drugs may be better than the safety of generic drugs in terms of blood sugar control.
Summary
In recent years, China has paid more and more attention to the consistency evaluation of generic drugs. The latest policy encourages enterprises to carry out the consistency evaluation of generic drugs. The above content may play a role in promoting the improvement of the safety of generic drugs.
