At food level it is one of the acid compounds with more applications, for this reason it has a great prominence as a preservative for a number of foods.

What cannot be stored with acetic acid
Although acetic acid has multiple beneficial functions, it is a compound that requires extreme precautions in handling, since the inhalation of this substance causes irritation in the lungs, and can cause bronchitis, cough, and shortness of breath, exposure to this acid has contact with the skin, produces severe irritation, increasing the thickness of the skin, and the appearance of cracks in the hands, and burns, can also cause damage to the eyes.
Storage requires special care since there are a number of compounds and products what cannot be stored with acetic acid, because some materials such as bases, oxidizers such as hydrogen peroxide, acids such as chromic, nitric, perchloric can react violently with acetic acid.
Products with strong alkalis such as oxides, hydroxides, and carbonates of some alkali metals also react violently with this acid, as in the case of caustic soda.
Other products such as water, aldehydes, alcohols, chlorosulfonic acid, ethanolamine, bromine trifluoride, halides, rubbers, and plastic coating materials should not be stored together with acetic acid, as they are highly incompatible with it.
