Anglo American reduces its forecast for power coal production in 2019

Anglo American, an international mining company, cut its full year forecast for power coal production after the Colombian joint venture mine, serrehong, lost production in the third quarter. On October 22, the company announced that it would reduce its equity production target to 26 million tons from its previous forecast of 26-28 million tons. From July to September, due to severe weather conditions and weak international coal prices, the production of salehong's equity power coal decreased by 23% to 2.1 million tons year on year. In the first nine months, the output dropped by 20.2% year on year to 6.27 million tons. Anglo, BHP and Glencore each own 33% of the mine. In the third quarter, British and American energy's power coal production in South Africa fell 15% year on year to 4.3 million tons. However, the company's metallurgical coal output is expected to remain unchanged at 22-24 million tons.
