Propylene Glycol Market Fell from Highs This Week (Aug 18-24, 2017)

ECHEMI 2017-08-25

The Chinese propylene glycol market fell from high levels this week on the soft demand and decreasing raw materials. Threatened by the substitute products, the demand for propylene glycol decreased further. Downstream users purchased goods inactively. Moreover, prices of PO and polyether inched down, which further dragged down the propylene glycol market.

As for supply, the unit at Linggu will continue to undergo maintenance and the supply will be modest. As the downstream producers mostly show a wait-and-see position, the overall trading will be thin.

The mainstream ex-works offers for propylene glucol are in the range of RMB 9,400-10,000/mt by acceptance. Dealing prices are negotiable.
