Lower LNG spot prices in Asia
Recently, the spot price of LNG in Asia has declined. The average price of LNG transported to Northeast Asia in December is about 5.9 US dollars / million BTU, 0.4 US dollars / million BTU lower than the recent average price level. Some people in the industry said that with the recent unloading of LNG carriers, the market supply is relatively concentrated, and LNG prices may be further reduced In recent days, LNG carriers to Japan, India, Greece, Poland, Spain and the Netherlands have started unloading. Most of the LNG carriers are expected to arrive at the terminals in early November S & P global Proctor data shows that most of the LNG spot prices in the near future are lower than 6 US dollars / million BTU "In terms of orders, there have been at least two LNG spot transactions in recent days with prices below US $6 / mmbtu," said a LNG dealer. One is a LNG order recently signed by northeast electric power company of Japan, and the other is an order for Sakhalin 2 project in Russia. " According to another source, the LNG order recently signed by Japanese electric power company jera enjoys a discount of 0.1-0.15 USD / million BTU based on the benchmark price of Platts Japan and South Korea. Pgnig, the Polish state-owned natural gas company, recently purchased five LNG ships with the same discount based on the benchmark price of natural gas in the Netherlands In terms of demand, LNG demand in Asia is still large. Among them, Korean gas company (kogas) recently purchased about 15 ships of LNG.
