Butanol / octanol production process and market research report

There are three processes for industrial production of butanol and octanol, namely fermentation (butanol only), acetaldehyde reduction (butanol only) and propylene carbonylation (butanol, isobutanol and octanol can be produced). Among them, carbonylation is the main production process of butanol and octanol at present.
Starch or molasses of corn (corn, corncob, rye, wheat) were used as raw materials, water was added to mix into the fermentation liquid, which was digested and sterilized, and pure Acetone butanol strain was added to Ferment at 36-37 ° C. butanol, acetone and ethanol were obtained from the fermentation liquid by distillation. The yield of n-butanol is low, but the purity quotient of product is easy to separate. Due to poor selectivity and many by-products (propane and high boiling matter), high-pressure carbonylation technology has been replaced by low-pressure carbonylation technology with rhodium as catalyst. The competitive carbonyl synthesis technologies include the middle pressure technology of Ruhr chemistry and the low pressure technology of Eastman, Mitsubishi Chemical and David. In recent years, all new butanol and octanol plants in the world adopt the modified rhodium catalyst low pressure method, which has the advantages of low temperature, low pressure, high speed, high ratio of normal to isomer, less side reaction, less rhodium catalyst consumption, long life, recyclable catalyst, less equipment, less investment and switchable production of butanol and octanol.
The carbonylation process of butanol and octanol is based on the raw materials of propylene, syngas and hydrogen. Under the action of catalyst, mixed butyraldehyde is generated. The catalyst is separated and recycled. After hydrogenation, isobutyraldehyde is separated to generate n-butanol and isobutanol. After distillation, n-butanal and isobutanol products are obtained. Under the catalysis of sodium hydroxide, n-butanal is condensed and dehydrated to generate octenal and octenal hydrogenation The crude octanol is produced and the product octanol is obtained through rectification.
