Animal experiments in cosmetics may be banned in Mexico

Animal experimental cosmetics manufacturing, import and marketing prohibition law is about to pass, with the increasing number of countries banning animal experiments in cosmetics around the world, Mexico also shows a trend of participation.

Global cosmetic industry (GCI) recently reported that the Mexican Senate and Senate Health Committee unanimously approved a bill banning animal testing in the manufacture of cosmetics. If the bill is passed in the house of Representatives and becomes a formal law, Mexico will completely prohibit the manufacture, import and marketing of cosmetics through animal experiments. At the same time, Mexico will become the 40th country in the world to ban animal experiments and the first country in North America. Recently, people are more and more fond of vegetarianism cosmetics that do not use animal raw materials and do not conduct animal experiments, and the relevant laws of various countries have been revised in succession.

Up to now, the countries and regions that implement the animal experiment prohibition law include European Union (EU), India and Japan. New Zealand, Taiwan, Australia, etc. In 2015, South Korea also passed an amendment to the cosmetics law banning animal experiments related to cosmetics. There has been a trend of banning animal experiments in Mexico since last year. More than 20, 000 people have been involved in animal experiments since the petition to ban the manufacture of cosmetics began last November. Humein society, head of HSI, an international organization for animal protection, said he hoped the bill would be passed as soon as possible to further eliminate unnecessary animal abuse in the cosmetics industry in Mexico.
