Omentitis
Most cases of omentitis are caused by various inflammations in the abdominal cavity. Common cases such as tuberculous peritonitis, acute appendicitis, acute cholecystitis, acute pelvic inflammatory disease, diverticulitis and various types of peritonitis can cause inflammation of the greater omentum. In severe cases, adhesions may form in the later stages. This acute inflammation generally subsides as the primary lesion is cured. In addition, there is also nonspecific necrotizing fat inflammation of unknown cause, also known as nonspecific fat membrane inflammation.
