Direct inguinal hernia
Direct inguinal hernia refers to a hernia caused by the direct prolapse of abdominal viscera from the inguinal triangle (Hesselbach triangle) on the inner side of the inferior epigastric artery. Direct inguinal hernia is more common in middle-aged and elderly people and the weak, and is related to many factors such as the incomplete development of muscles and fascia in the direct hernia triangle, muscle atrophy and degeneration, and increased intra-abdominal pressure. A giant oblique hernia can also cause a direct hernia if the strength of the posterior wall of the inguinal canal is significantly weakened or absent.
