Endometrial tuberculosis
Endometrial tuberculosis is an inflammation of the endometrium caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Infectious diseases of the female reproductive organs caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis often invade the fallopian tubes first, then gradually invade the endometrium and ovaries, and rarely involve the cervix, vagina, and vulva. It is often a part of pelvic tuberculosis, often secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis, renal tuberculosis, gastrointestinal tuberculosis, bone or joint tuberculosis, etc., and occasionally it can be a part of systemic miliary tuberculosis. The main source of infection is pulmonary or peritoneal tuberculosis. Endometrial tuberculosis accounts for 50-60% of genital tuberculosis, and is often caused by fallopian tube tuberculosis spreading to the uterus. The lesions are mostly confined to the endometrium, and in severe cases, they can invade the myometrium.
