Diaper rash is an inflammatory skin lesion that occurs in the diaper area, also known as baby red buttocks. It manifests as redness and swelling of the skin in the area where the buttocks and diapers come into contact, and may even cause ulcers, sores and infections. Slight external force or friction can cause damage. If the condition continues to develop, exudate, epidermal exfoliation, and superficial ulcers will appear. If not treated in time, it will develop into deeper ulcers or even bedsores. Diaper rash mostly occurs in infants under 1 year old, and is usually the most severe at 7-9 months. Because the types of food that infants begin to eat gradually increase during this period, the irritation of urine and feces to the skin of the buttocks increases, especially when there is diarrhea or feces are left in the diaper overnight, or when infants or breastfeeding mothers use antibiotics.
