Lomefloxacin HCl is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic.Target: AntibacterialLomefloxacin is a bactericidal fluoroquinolone agent with activity against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive organisms. The bactericidal action of lomefloxacin results from interference with the activity of the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are needed for the transcription and replication of bacterial DNA. Lomefloxacin hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of lomefloxacin. It is administered by mouth to treat bacterial infections including bronchitis and urinary tract infections. It is also used topically as eye drops for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis, and as ear drops for the treatment of otitis externa and otitis media. It has a role as a photosensitizing agent, an antimicrobial agent and an antitubercular agent. It contains a lomefloxacin.

Drug Function and Efficacy
Quinolone antibacterial drugs. It kills bacteria by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase. It has high antibacterial activity against Enterobacteriaceae such as Escherichia coli, Shigella, Klebsiella, Proteus, Enterobacter, etc.; influenza bacilli, gonococci, etc. are also highly sensitive to this product; it also has a certain antibacterial effect on Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, Pneumococcus, hemolytic streptococci, etc., such as Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
