This product is a quinolone antibacterial drug. It has high antibacterial activity against Enterobacteriaceae such as Escherichia coli, Shigella, Klebsiella, Proteus, Enterobacter, etc.; Haemophilus influenzae and Neisseria gonorrhoeae are also highly sensitive to this product; it also has certain antibacterial effects on Pseudomonas such as Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus, Pneumococcus, and hemolytic Streptococcus. This product acts on the A subunit of DNA helicase in bacterial cells, inhibiting the synthesis and replication of DNA and exerting a bactericidal effect.

Timolol maleate is a non-selective β-adrenergic receptor blocker with no obvious endogenous sympathomimetic activity and local anesthetic effect, and no direct inhibitory effect on the myocardium. The exact mechanism of its lowering intraocular pressure is still unclear, but intraocular pressure recording and aqueous humor fluorescence studies suggest that the intraocular pressure-lowering effect of this product is related to the reduction of aqueous humor production.

This product is a highly effective fluorinated and chlorinated corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic and vasoconstrictive effects. Its anti-inflammatory and antipruritic mechanism is to increase the responsiveness of β receptors to catecholamine, increase CAMP production by activating adenylate cyclase, and inhibit phosphoethylesterase to reduce CAMP destruction, resulting in an increase in cAMP concentration in cells and inhibiting the release of histamine. This product has a similar effect as dexamethasone in inhibiting the proliferation of granulomas in rats and mice.
