It relaxes vascular smooth muscle, activates guanylate cyclase by releasing nitric oxide (NO), increases cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in smooth muscle cells, and thus relaxes vascular smooth muscle, dilating peripheral arteries and veins. It has a stronger dilating effect on veins, reduces the amount of blood returning to the heart, reduces left ventricular end-diastolic pressure and pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (preload), reduces peripheral vascular resistance, systolic arterial pressure and mean arterial pressure (afterload), increases coronary perfusion, reduces myocardial oxygen consumption and increases oxygen supply, and relieves angina pectoris. No carcinogenicity or mutagenicity was observed in animal experiments.

It is a powerful topical glucocorticoid that exhibits a strong anti-inflammatory effect in the nasal cavity and does not produce systemic side effects at therapeutic doses. It can enhance the stability of endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells and lysosomal membranes, inhibit immune responses and reduce antibody synthesis, thereby reducing the release and activity of allergic active mediators such as histamine, and can reduce the enzymatic process stimulated by antigen-antibody binding, inhibit the synthesis and release of bronchial contraction substances, and reduce the contraction response of smooth muscles.
