Sodium Oxybate Injection
Function and Efficacy
After intravenous injection, drowsiness occurs 3 to 5 minutes after this product is injected intravenously, and deep sleep occurs after 10 to 15 minutes. The effect lasts for 90 to 120 minutes, and sometimes can last for several hours. 1 Central nervous system: This product inhibits central nervous system activity, mainly due to the excitation of GABA receptors. The general dose acts on the cerebral cortex, and the large dose also affects the brainstem and midbrain, producing a hypnotic effect, but does not inhibit the reticular activation system, and is prone to muscle twitching, involuntary movements and extrapyramidal symptoms. This product has no analgesic effect. 2 Circulatory system: It has an excitatory effect on the circulatory system, causing slightly higher blood pressure, slow and strong pulse, no effect on cardiac output, and no increase in intracranial pressure. It promotes K to enter cells, and the electrocardiogram can show a flat or inverted T wave, or the appearance of a U wave. 3 Respiratory system: The general dose can slightly slow down the respiratory rate and slightly increase the tidal volume. However, rapid injection of a large dose can produce respiratory depression. 4 It can make the throat reflex sluggish, inhibited, and the mandible relaxed. After surface anesthesia, endotracheal intubation can be performed.
