Nitrofurantoin enteric-coated tablets

The main symptom of overdose of this product is vomiting. There is no specific antidote for overdose of this product. Further induction of vomiting and administration of large amounts of fluids are required to ensure that the drug is excreted in the urine. This product can also be removed by dialysis.

The main ingredient of this product is nitrofurantoin.

It is used for acute simple lower urinary tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Enterococcus, Staphylococcus, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, etc., and can also be used for the prevention of urinary tract infections.

Oral administration: 50-100 mg for adults, 3-4 times a day. Low doses are used for simple lower urinary tract infections; children over 1 month old take 5-7 mg/kg per day, divided into 4 doses. The course of treatment is at least 1 week, or at least 3 days after the urine culture turns negative. For patients who need to prevent recurrent urinary tract infections, take 50-100 mg per day for adults, before bedtime, and 1 mg/kg per day for children.

1. Gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea, vomiting, anorexia and diarrhea are common. 2. Allergic reactions such as rash, drug fever, granulocytopenia, hepatitis, etc. may also occur. Hemolytic anemia may occur in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency. 3. Adverse reactions of the nervous system such as headache, dizziness, drowsiness, myalgia, nystagmus, etc. may occasionally occur. Most of them are reversible. In severe cases, peripheral neuritis may occur. Patients with existing renal dysfunction or long-term use of this product are prone to it. 4. Nitrofurantoin may occasionally cause acute pneumonia symptoms such as fever, cough, chest pain, lung infiltration and eosinophilia, which may disappear quickly after discontinuation of the drug. Corticosteroids may alleviate symptoms in severe patients. Patients who take it for more than 6 months may occasionally develop interstitial pneumonia or pulmonary fibrosis. The drug should be stopped as soon as possible and corresponding treatment measures should be taken.

It is contraindicated for newborns, full-term pregnant women, patients with impaired renal function, and patients allergic to nitrofurantoin-type drugs.

Precautions for children: It is contraindicated for newborns under 1 month old. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. Because nitrofurantoin can pass through the placental barrier and the fetal enzyme system is not fully developed, it is not suitable for pregnant women in the late pregnancy and is contraindicated for pregnant women at full term to avoid the possibility of hemolytic anemia in the fetus. 2. A small amount of nitrofurantoin can enter breast milk and induce hemolytic anemia in infants, especially those with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency. Breastfeeding should be stopped when taking this product. Precautions for the elderly: Elderly patients should use it with caution and the dosage should be adjusted according to renal function.
