Menadione Acetate Tablets

Function and Efficacy

[Pharmacology and Toxicology] Vitamin K is a necessary substance for the liver to synthesize coagulation factors II, VII, IX and X. Vitamin K deficiency can cause synthesis disorders of these coagulation factors, and clinical bleeding tendency and prolonged prothrombin time can be seen. These factors are usually called vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors. The exact mechanism by which vitamin K promotes the synthesis of factors II, VII, IX and X has not yet been elucidated. Natural vitamin K includes K1 and K2, which are fat-soluble and their absorption depends on the normal secretion of bile. Artificially synthesized vitamin K includes K3 and K4. The former is sodium bisulfite menadione and the latter is acetyl menadione, which are water-soluble and do not require the presence of bile for absorption. [Pharmacokinetics] Artificially synthesized vitamins K3 and K4 are water-soluble and are mainly temporarily stored in the liver after absorption, with very little content in other tissues. It is also difficult to pass through the placenta into the fetus and into breast milk. This product is rapidly metabolized in the body, first converted into hydroquinone form, then combined with glucuronic acid or sulfuric acid and excreted through the kidney and bile duct, and most of it is not stored in the body.

Appearance

This product is a sugar-coated tablet, which appears white or slightly yellow after removing the sugar coating.

Indication

Vitamin drugs. Mainly used for coagulation disorders caused by vitamin K deficiency. For example, vitamin K deficiency caused by intestinal malabsorption. Obstructive jaundice caused by various reasons, chronic ulcerative colitis, chronic pancreatitis and reduced intestinal absorption function after extensive small bowel resection; long-term use of antibiotics can lead to vitamin K deficiency in the body, broad-spectrum antibiotics or intestinal sterilization drugs can kill or inhibit the bacterial flora in the normal intestine, resulting in a decrease in the vitamins synthesized by intestinal bacteria; the molecular structure of anticoagulants such as dicoumarol is similar to that of vitamin K, which interferes with its metabolism in the body, preventing epoxyphylloquinone from being reduced to vitamin K, and preventing vitamin K in the body from playing its role, resulting in consequences similar to vitamin K deficiency.

Usage and Dosage

Oral administration, 2-4 mg (1-2 tablets) at a time, three times a day.

Adverse Reactions
