Miconazole nitrate cream

Miconazole is a synthetic 1-phenylethyl imidazole derivative, a broad-spectrum antifungal drug, which has inhibitory and killing effects on dermatophytes, Candida, yeasts and other algae, ascomycetes, cryptococci, etc., and also has antibacterial effects on Gram-positive cocci and bacilli. Miconazole inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol, the main steroid of fungal cell membrane, by interfering with the activity of cytochrome P-450, damaging the fungal cell membrane and changing its permeability, resulting in leakage of important intracellular substances; this product can also inhibit the biosynthesis of triglycerides and phospholipids of fungi, inhibit the activity of oxidases and peroxidases, cause the accumulation of hydrogen peroxide in cells, and lead to cell submicrostructure degeneration and cell necrosis. For Candida albicans, it can inhibit the process of transformation from spores to invasive hyphae.

Each gram of this product contains 0.02 grams of the main ingredient, miconazole nitrate, and the auxiliary materials are polyacrylic acid, triethanolamine, disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, propylene glycol and benzoic acid (preservative).

This product is a white or off-white ointment with an emulsion base.

1. Skin and nail infections caused by dermatophytes, yeasts and other fungi, such as tinea corporis, tinea manuum, tinea versicolor, tinea capitis, tinea barbae, tinea ungualis: skin and nail candidiasis: angular cheilitis, otitis externa. Since this product has antibacterial effects on gram-positive bacteria, it can be used for secondary infections caused by such bacteria. 2. Vaginal infections and secondary infections caused by yeasts (such as Candida albicans) and gram-positive bacteria.

1 Skin infection: Apply the ointment to the affected area twice a day and rub it with your fingers to make sure that the medicine completely penetrates the skin. For tinea versicolor, use the medicine once a day. After all the skin lesions on the affected area disappear (usually 2-5 weeks), continue to use the medicine for one week to prevent recurrence. 2 Candidal vaginitis: Use an applicator to squeeze the ointment (about 5 grams) deep into the vagina before going to bed every day. The medicine must be used continuously for 2 weeks. It can also be used during menstruation.

A few patients may experience burning and irritation. Allergic reactions may occur occasionally.

Precautions for pregnancy and lactation Animal tests have shown that miconazole is toxic to the fetus, so pregnant women are prohibited from using this product. 2. It is not clear whether this product will be secreted into breast milk, so it is not recommended for lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.
