Sotalol Hydrochloride Tablets

Function and Efficacy

This drug has the characteristics of both Class II and Class III antiarrhythmic drugs. It is a non-cardioselective beta-blocker without intrinsic sympathomimetic activity, and has a β1β2 receptor blocking effect. It can also prolong the myocardial action potential, effective refractory period and QT period, inhibit the conduction time of the sinoatrial node and atrioventricular node, and prolong the conduction of the atrioventricular bypass pathway. The electrocardiogram shows a prolonged P-R interval, a slightly widened QRS duration, and a significantly prolonged QT interval. This drug has a mild positive inotropic effect, which may be due to prolonged action potential, increased calcium influx time, and increased intracytoplasmic calcium. This drug is included in the range of Class III antiarrhythmic drugs.

Ingredients

The main ingredient of this product and its chemical name are: (R,S) 4'-(1-hydroxy-2-isopropylaminoethyl) methanesulfonic acid aniline hydrochloride.

Appearance

This product is white tablets.

Indication

1 Cardioversion, prevention of supraventricular tachycardia, especially atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia. It can also be used for preexcitation syndrome with supraventricular tachycardia. 2 Atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation. 3 Various ventricular arrhythmias, including ventricular premature beats, sustained and non-sustained ventricular tachycardia. 4 Acute myocardial infarction complicated by severe arrhythmias.

Usage and Dosage

Oral administration: 80~160mg/day, divided into two doses, starting with a small dose and gradually increasing the dose. For ventricular tachycardia, 160~480mg/day can be used. The dose should be reduced for renal insufficiency.

Adverse Reactions

The effects of beta blockers are associated with bradycardia, hypotension, and bronchospasm. High doses of this product may cause fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, rash, etc. The serious adverse reaction of this product is arrhythmogenicity, which may manifest as aggravation of existing arrhythmias or the emergence of new arrhythmias. In severe cases, torsades de pointes, multifocal ventricular tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation may occur, which are often related to large doses, low potassium, Q-T prolongation, and severe heart disease.

Precautions

Bradycardia, heart rate <60 beats/min, sick sinus syndrome, II-III degree atrioventricular block, intraventricular block, hypotension, shock, Q-T prolongation, uncontrolled heart failure and allergies.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Precautions for the elderly: Use with caution, especially for those with renal insufficiency and electrolyte imbalance.

Drug Interactions

1. It has synergistic effects when used with other class Ⅰa, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ antiarrhythmic drugs. 2. It can aggravate conduction disorders when used with calcium antagonists, further inhibit ventricular function, and lower blood pressure. 3. It can produce hypotension and severe bradycardia when used with catecholamines (such as reserpine and guanethidine). 4. There are reports of increased blood sugar, requiring the addition of insulin and hypoglycemic drugs.

Storage

Keep in dark, airtight, dry place.

Packaging Specification

80mg

Validity Period
