Function and Efficacy

Pharmacological action: Methylcobalamin is an endogenous coenzyme B12 that participates in the one-carbon unit cycle and plays an important role in the transmethylation reaction of methionine synthesis from homocysteine. Animal experiments show that this product is easier to enter neuronal organelles than cyanocobalamin, participates in the synthesis of thymidine nucleoside in brain cells and spinal cord neurons, promotes the utilization of folic acid and nucleic acid metabolism, and has a stronger effect on promoting nucleic acid and protein synthesis than cyanocobalamin; it can promote axonal transport function and axonal regeneration, and normalize the transport of axonal skeleton proteins in the sciatic nerve of diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin; it has an inhibitory effect on drug-induced neurodegeneration, such as axonal degeneration in mice caused by adriamycin, acrylamide, and vincristine, and neurological diseases in spontaneously hypertensive rats; it can restore delayed synaptic transmission and neurotransmitter reduction to normal, and restore acetylcholine in the brain of rats fed with choline-deficient feed to normal levels by increasing nerve fiber excitability and restoring ultimate plate potential induction. In vitro studies have shown that methylcobalamin can promote the synthesis of lecithin and neuronal myelination in cultured rat tissues. Toxicological studies Reproductive toxicity: When rats and mice were orally administered methylcobalamin at 0.2, 2.0, and 20 mg/kg/d during the teratogenic sensitive period, no abnormalities or teratogenic signs were observed in the fetuses and newborns.

Appearance

This product is a brown film-coated tablet, which appears light red after the film coating is removed.

Indication

Peripheral neuropathy.

Usage and Dosage

Oral administration. Generally, adults take 1 tablet (0.5 mg) 3 times a day. The dosage can be increased or decreased according to age and symptoms.

Adverse Reactions

1. Allergic rash may occur occasionally (incidence rate 0.1%), please stop taking the medicine if it occurs. 2. Others may occasionally (incidence rate 5% to 0.1%): loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

Precautions

It is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to methylcobalamin or any of the excipients in the formulation.
