Indication

Roxithromycin is used for infections caused by sensitive strains, especially upper and lower respiratory tract infections, ear, nose and throat infections, genital (except gonococcal infections) and skin infections.

Usage and Dosage

1. Adult dosage: 150 mg twice a day. Take at least 15 minutes before meals. Infant and child dosage: 2.5-5.0 mg/kg daily. Take in 2 doses. When this product is used in combination with theophylline or carbamazepine, the dosage does not need to be adjusted. There is cross-resistance between this product and erythromycin. 2. Take 1 hour before meals or 4 hours after meals. Taking after meals will reduce drug absorption because roxithromycin is a fat-soluble drug. Mix with boiled water or take with water. It is not suitable to take with tea or other beverages.

Adverse Reactions

Adverse reactions are not common, with an incidence of about 4.1%. The most common are gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, and only 1.9% of cases require drug discontinuation. This product is quite safe for infants, children, and the elderly. There may also be allergic reactions such as rashes; changes in liver function are rare. Gastrointestinal reactions, rashes, and elevated ALT and AST may be seen.
