Function and use:
Zinc stearate has good thermal stability, small initial coloring, good light stability, synergistic effect with calcium stearate and barium stearate, and has a foaming effect. It can be used for foaming products as a foaming aid. Zinc stearate as a lubricant for cosmetic flour powder and as a lubricant for plastic products is used as a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride. Combined with barium-cadmium soap, it is mainly used for soft products. It is characterized by inhibiting the initial coloring of Chemicalbook and avoiding sulfide pollution. Zinc stearate can also be used as a lubricant and mold release agent for thermosetting plastics such as styrene series (polystyrene and ABC, SAN resins), phenolic resins, amino resins and polyester plastics, transparent products. In the rubber industry, it is used as a lubricant and anti-sticking agent for rubber compounds and as an activator for vulcanization catalysts. Zinc stearate is a white, hydrophobic powder with a slight, characteristic odor. Mp: 130°C. Density: 1.1 g cm-3. Insoluble in water, ethyl alcohol and diethyl ether. Soluble in acids. Non-toxic. In technical grades, the percentage of zinc may vary according to the intended use. Products with less than the theoretical amount of zinc are more acidic.
