Physical and chemical properties of methyl cellulose (MC):
Appearance: white or white powder or granule, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic, slightly hygroscopic;

Solubility: insoluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform. In the mixed solution of water, glacial acetic acid or ethanol chloroform (1:1), the solution can be clarified or suspended. In the hot water of 80-90 DEG C, it rapidly swelled and dissolved rapidly after cooling. The aqueous solution was quite stable at room temperature, and the high temperature gel undergoes a reversible transition from gel to solution in the process of heating and cooling. It has excellent wetting, dispersing, adhesion, thickening, emulsifying, water retention and film-forming properties.
