Tetrahydrocurcumin (THC), is a product of bacterial or intestinal metabolism of curcumin. It can be obtained via hydrogenation of curcumin. Curcumin is a yellow, polyphenolic pigment, derived from the rhizomes of a plant. It is the principal curcuminoid of the popular Indian spice turmeric. Tetrahydrocurcumin is a natural antioxidant exhibiting a variety of pharmacological activities and therapeutic properties. It exhibits many of the same physiologic and pharmacological activities as curcumin and in some systems may exert greater antioxidant activity than curcumin.Functions
1. Tetrahydrocurcuminoids has better whitening effect than arbutin which can inhibit effectually oxygen free radicals.
2. Tetrahydrocurcuminoids can remove oxygen free radicals which has been generated, and have obvious antioxidant effect.
3. Tetrahydrocurcuminoids can whiten and remove freckles and antioxidant.
