Product Description
Donepezil hydrochloride is a treatment drug for alzheimer's disease, belonging to the second generation of cholinesterase (ChE) inhibitor. It is clinically used for the treatment of mild or moderate alzheimer's disease. Compared with similar drugs, donepezil has the characteristics of low incidence of adverse reactions and obvious efficacy.
Currently, it is believed that the pathogenesis of cognitive impairment in alzheimer's disease is partly related to the low cholinergic neurotransmitter function. Donepezil hydrochloride can play a therapeutic role by enhancing the function of cholinergic nerve. It can reversibly inhibit the hydrolysis of acetylcholine by acetylcholinesterase, thereby increasing the concentration of acetylcholine in the receptor site. According to the above mechanism, as the course of the disease progresses, the number of fully functional cholinergic neurons gradually decreases, and the effect of donepezil may be weakened. There is no evidence that donepezil can alter the basic course of dementia.
