Fumed silica, also known as pyrogenic silica, because it is produced in the flame. It is superfine micro-nano fine chemical products with primary particle size 5 -50 nm, which is divided into hydrophilic type and hydrophobic type according to their different surface treatment process.

Application of Fumed Silica in Polymer Industry

1. Rubber

The strength can be increased by up to 40 times, the yield point modulus can be increased by about 10 times, and the elongation and creep properties can also be significantly improved. Its reinforcing effect fully reaches the level of carbon black and overcomes the black pollution of carbon black.

2. Sealants and adhesives

It can be used as a thickener and thixotropic agent to increase the bonding strength, ensure free flow, prevent caking, sag, collapse, and sag during curing, maintain transparency, reinforce, and resist shearing.

3. Plastic

It can improve the compactness, smoothness and wear resistance of plastic products. Through proper surface modification, the purpose of simultaneously strengthening and toughening plastics can be achieved. 4. Thixotropic polyester and gel coat resin
