      Product Application

    (1) Food Industry: Added as an anti-caking agent to powdered foods such as milk powder, coffee powder, and seasonings to prevent particles from clumping and keep the products in a loose state.

    (2) Pharmaceutical Field: Used in pharmaceutical preparations, for example, as a filler or glidant in tablets and capsules to help pharmaceutical powders form smoothly and improve dissolution and absorption after administration.

    (3) Industrial Manufacturing: It is a core raw material for producing glass, ceramics, and cement. Meanwhile, it can be used to manufacture high-precision industrial products such as quartz glass and optical fibers, and also serve as a reinforcing agent for rubber and plastics to enhance material strength.

    (4) Cosmetics Industry: Added to skin care products (such as lotions and foundations) and color cosmetics to absorb oil, increase the smoothness and concealing power of products, and can also be used as an abrasive in toothpaste to clean teeth.

    (5) Environmental Protection and Agriculture: It can be used as a filter medium for water purification to adsorb impurities in water; in agriculture, it can be used as a soil amendment to improve soil aeration and water retention, or as a pesticide carrier to enhance the stability of pesticide efficacy.

      Product Function

    (1) Physical Regulation Function: For example, it acts as an anti-caking agent in food and pharmaceuticals to prevent clumping, enhances the smoothness of products in cosmetics, and serves as an abrasive in toothpaste to clean teeth.

    (2) Structural Support Function: It acts as a core raw material for glass, ceramics, and cement to form material structures, or as a reinforcing agent for rubber and plastics to improve their mechanical strength.

    (3) Carrier and Adsorption Function: It can be used as a pesticide carrier to stabilize pesticide efficacy, as a water filtration medium to adsorb impurities in water, and also as a filler/glidant in pharmaceuticals to assist in drug formation and absorption.

    (4) Performance Optimization Function: It is used in the manufacture of high-precision products such as quartz glass and optical fibers, and its properties such as high temperature resistance and good light transmittance are utilized to optimize product performance; in agriculture, it acts as a soil amendment to improve soil aeration and water retention.

    ECHEMI Editorial Reference
Diatomaceous earth is a transparent to gray, odorless amorphous powder. Amorphous silica, the noncrystalline form of SiO2, is a transparent to gray, odorless, amorphous powder white crystals or powder
Silicon dioxide occurs almost everywhere on earth. It is one of the most important and abundant oxides on earth, constituting about 60% weight of the earth’s crust as silica itself or in combination with other metal oxides in silicates. It commonly is found as sand in the vast ocean and river shores, their beds, deserts, rocks, and minerals.Silicon dioxide exists in several structural forms: polymorphic crystalline silica, synthetic quartz crystals, amorphous silica, and vitreous silica. This classification is not complete as there are other forms of silica synthesized for specialized applications.
Silica is an inert, naturally occurring mineral used as a carrier in some pesticide products and is sometimes used as an insecticide to control crawling insects, acting via its abrasive and desiccant properties. It is moderately soluble in water and stable in the environment. It is generally considered non-toxic to biodiversity and humans. However, there are some concerns that exposure to crystalline silica particles that are small enough to reach the lungs can cause lung cancer.

    Physical Properties:

Colorless amorphous (i.e., fused silica) or crystalline (i.e., quartz) material having a low thermal expansion coefficient and excellent optical transmittance in far UV. Silica is insoluble in strong mineral acids and alkalis except HF, concentrated H3PO4, NH4HF2, concentrated alkali metal hydroxides. Owing to its good corrosion resistance to liquid metals such as Si, Ge, Sn, Pb, Ga, In, Tl, Rb, Bi, and Cd, it is used as crucible container for melting these metals, while silica is readily attacked in an inert atmosphere by molten metals such as Li, Na, K Mg, and Al. Quartz crystals are piezoelectric and pyroelectric. Maximum service temperature 1090°C.
