Dimethylacetamide (Dimethylacetamide), known as N,N-dimethylacetamide (chemical formula: CH3C(O)N(CH3)2 abbreviated as DMAC or DMA. a commonly used as a non-protonic polar solvent. Colorless transparent liquid, flammable. Can be mixed with water, alcohols, ethers, esters, benzene, trichloromethane and aromatic compounds and other organic solvents at will. Used in the manufacture of drugs, synthetic resins, also used as a solvent for polyacrylonitrile spinning and extraction distillation solvent for separating styrene from carbon eight fraction, etc. It is produced by the action of dimethylamine and acetyl chloride.
Used as raw material of synthetic fiber and excellent polar solvent for organic synthesis; used in organic synthesis, also used as solvent, catalyst and paint remover.
DMAC is mainly used as a solvent for synthetic fiber (acrylonitrile) and polyurethane spinning and synthetic polyamide resin, also used as an extractive distillation solvent for separating phenacetin from C8 fraction, and widely used in polymer films; coatings and pharmaceuticals. At present, it is used in a large number of pharmaceuticals and pesticides to synthesize antimicrobial agents and pesticide insecticides.
It can be used as catalyst for reaction; electrolytic solvent; paint remover and a variety of crystalline solvent adducts and complexes.
Used as a solvent, paint remover, catalyst and in organic synthesis.

Unsaturated aliphatic compounds are easily soluble in this product, but saturated aliphatic compounds have little solubility in this product. It is less hydrolytic, but hydrolysis can be accelerated in the presence of acids and bases. The product is stable and does not decompose when distilled. It can react with strong bases to produce acetate and alkylamine. In the presence of protons, it can be alcoholized by heating.
