On December 19, 2014, the US FDA approved the new anti-cancer drug olaparib (Lynparza) as a monotherapy for patients with advanced ovarian cancer who have received at least three prior chemotherapy treatments, or for patients with advanced ovarian cancer with suspected BRCA mutations. At the same time, the FDA approved a quantitative and classification diagnostic kit for detecting BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations, BRACAnalysisCDx. Olaparib (Lynparza) is the first PARP inhibitor approved by the FDA.
