Stability	This product is one of the hormones secreted by the posterior pituitary gland in mammals such as pigs. It is produced by the hypothalamic nucleus of the hypothalamus and transported through axons to the posterior pituitary gland, which then secretes it. It is one of the active peptides containing nine amino acid residues, and is also known as an octapeptide because two cysteine residues are linked by disulfide bonds and act as one cysteine (Cys Cys). In addition to being extracted from the posterior pituitary gland, it can also be artificially synthesized and has antidiuretic and blood pressure raising effects. Therefore, it is called antidiuretic hormone or vasopressin.

Lypressin is a cyclic peptide.|The porcine antidiuretic hormone (VASOPRESSINS). It is a cyclic nonapeptide that differs from ARG-VASOPRESSIN by one amino acid, containing a LYSINE at residue 8 instead of an ARGININE. Lys-vasopressin is used to treat DIABETES INSIPIDUS or to improve vasomotor tone and BLOOD PRESSURE.
