      General use

Using industrial iodine as raw material, it was purified by recrystallization, and the purity of high purity iodine was 99.5%. To be used as a disinfectant. Iodide is used as food iodine supplement and for making dyes, analytical reagents and so on. Used in ICP-AES, AAS, AFS, ICP-MS, ion chromatography, etc. Standard solution for titration analysis

Iodine is a purple or black nonmetallic element with an orthogonal crystal structure. The toxic element is easily sublimated and easily purified in this way. Insoluble in water, but soluble in common solvents such as ethanol, ether and carbon tetrachloride. Iodine is used as a fungicide and preservative in dyes, tinctures and medicines.

It is also used in the production of vanadium metal in the McKechnie-Seybolt process, which returns raw vanadium pentoxide to Chemicalbook in the presence of iodine. Iodine is used in a similar way to produce high purity zirconium. Iodine tincture (3% to 7% soluble in ethanol) has been an important preservative for many years.

Commercial tinctures also typically contain 5% potassium iodide to provide stability. This form can cause mild skin burns and stain skin and fabrics. Milder preparations may be used in which an oil-water emulsion also contains about 2% iodine, which also contains lecithin.

    Physical Properties:

Iodine in its pure state is a black solid that sublimates (changes from a solid to a gas withoutgoing through a liquid state) at room temperature. It produces a deep purple vapor that is irritatingto the eyes, nose, and throat. Iodine tends to form nonmetallic diatomic molecules (I2).It is the heaviest of the naturally occurring halogens. (Although astatine, the fifth element ingroup 17, is heavier than iodine, it is a synthetic element and does not occur in nature exceptas a very small trace.) Iodine is the least reactive of the five halogens.Iodine’s melting point is 113.7°C, its boiling point is 184.4°C, and its density is 4.93g/cm3.
