Zirconium acetate solution, also called aqueous basic zirconium acetate, CAS number 7585-20-8, is a chloride-free water-soluble zirconium liquid. It is a basic zirconium acetate aqueous solution produced by professional Chinese zirconium chemical manufacturer for worldwide industrial export.
Our standard zirconium acetate solution contains Zr(Hf)O₂ ≥22%. Custom concentrations such as 15%, 20% Zr(Hf)O₂ can be manufactured on request. The liquid is clear to pale amber, fully miscible with water. It remains stable under acidic conditions. When pH rises above 6.0, hydrolysis occurs and zirconium hydroxide precipitate forms. Our product features low heavy metal impurities, stable batch-to-batch quality and consistent zirconium content.

    SECTION 4: First aid measures

4.1 Description of first aid measures
    • Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. If discomfort persists, seek medical help.
    • Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with plenty of running water for ≥15 min. Consult doctor if irritation develops.
    • Eye contact: Flush eyes with plenty of clean running water for at least 15 minutes, keep eyelids open. Seek medical attention.
    • Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Get medical advice.
    4.2 Symptoms

Liquid may irritate skin and eyes; vapour of free acetic acid may irritate nose and throat.

    4.3 Medical note: Treat symptomatically.

    SECTION 5: Fire-fighting measures

5.1 Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, foam, dry chemical powder, CO₂.

    5.2 Unsuitable: None specific.

    5.3 Special hazards from substance

Non-flammable aqueous liquid. At high temperature, decomposition releases acetic acid vapour and zirconium oxide fumes.

    5.4 Advice for firefighters

Wear full protective gear and self-contained breathing apparatus. Cool containers with water spray. Prevent contaminated fire runoff entering drains.

    SECTION 6: Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions: Avoid splashing onto skin and eyes. Wear gloves, safety goggles. Ensure ventilation.

6.2 Environmental precautions: Prevent spill entering sewer, surface water and soil.

    6.3 Containment & cleaning

Small spill: Contain spill with inert absorbent (sand). Collect liquid into closed labelled plastic container. Rinse residual area with plenty of water. Do not discharge untreated waste.

    6.4 Reference: Sections 8 & 13.

    SECTION 7: Handling and storage

    7.1 Handling precautions

Avoid splashing. Use local exhaust ventilation to control acetic acid vapour. Prevent contact with eyes and skin. Wash hands after operation.

    7.2 Storage conditions

Store in tightly sealed plastic / HDPE drums, cool, dry, well ventilated warehouse. Avoid high temperature and freeze-thaw cycles (risk of hydrolysis and precipitation).

Keep separated from strong bases, strong oxidising agents.

    7.3 Specific uses: See Section1.2

SECTION 8: Exposure controls / personal protection

8.1 Exposure limits: No occupational exposure limit for zirconium acetate. Follow acetic acid OEL.

    8.2 Exposure controls
    • Respiratory: Vapour mask if ventilation poor and acetic acid vapour accumulates
    • Hand: Nitrile / chemical resistant gloves
    • Eye: Safety goggles / face shield
    • Skin: Chemical resistant apron / protective work coat

SECTION 9: Physical and chemical properties

Appearance: Clear to pale amber aqueous liquid

Odour: Mild acetic acid (vinegar) odour
