Purpose: Hematite is a weakly magnetic iron mineral with better floatability than magnetite and is one of the main raw materials for ironmaking. There is also a weak magnetic separation process after magnetization roasting. Distribution Hematite is an accessory mineral widely distributed in various rocks. It appears in many igneous rocks in finely dispersed granular form. Under special circumstances, it forms huge blocks in regional metamorphic rocks. In red sandstones, hematite is the cement that binds quartz grains and gives the rock its color. To be economically worth mining, it must contain tens of millions of tons of hematite.
