What is Lincomycin hydrochoride /Lincosamide?

Lincomycin is a white or practically white, crystalline powder and is odorless or has a faint odor. Its solutions are acid and are dextrorotatory. Lincomycin hydrochloride is freely soluble in water; soluble in dimethylformamide and very slightly soluble .Lincomycin, a lincomycin antibiotic produced by Streptomyces lincomycinus, acts on the ribosome of sensitive bacteria, and prevents the extension of peptide chain by combining with the central ring of 23SrRNA gene of 50S subunit, thereby inhibiting the protein synthesis of bacterial cells.
