      Product Detail

Benzaldehyde is also known as benzoin aldehyde, the organic compound benzaldehyde formed after the hydrogen of benzene is replaced by aldehyde group is the simplest, but also the most commonly used aromatic aldehyde in industry. At room temperature it is a colorless liquid with a distinctive almond odor. Benzaldehyde is a compound that is directly connected with the aldehyde group and the phenyl group, and has been called bitter almond oil because it has a flavor similar to bitter almond. Benzaldehyde is widely present in the plant kingdom, especially in the rose family, mainly in the form of glycosides in the stem skin, leaves or seeds of plants, such as amygdalin in bitter almonds, cherries, bay leaves, peach stones. Benzaldehyde is naturally present in bitter almond oil, patchouli oil, hyacinth oil, ylang ylang oil and other essential oils. Chemicalbook The compound is also found in kernels and nuts in the form of glycosides (Amygdalin). Benzaldehyde is chemically similar to fatty aldehydes, but there are differences. Benzaldehyde can not reduce Fehring reagent; In the reduction of benzaldehyde with the reagent used in the reduction of fatty aldehyde, in addition to the main product benzyl alcohol, some tetra-substituted o-diol compounds and homophenyl glycol are produced. In the presence of potassium cyanide, two molecules of benzaldehyde form benzoin by giving and receiving hydrogen atoms. Benzaldehyde can also carry out electrophilic substitution reactions on aromatic nuclei, mainly to produce metasubic substitution products, such as nitrification when the main product is metasitrobenzaldehyde. Nowadays benzaldehyde is mainly prepared from toluene by different ways.

    ECHEMI Editorial Reference
Benzaldehyde is a colorless to pale yellow liquid that possesses a distinctive almond-like odor, which is quite characteristic and easily recognizable. This organic compound has the chemical formula C7H6O, and it is extensively utilized across various sectors. Specifically, benzaldehyde is widely used in the flavor industry, where it contributes to the creation of almond and other nut-like flavors in food products. Additionally, it plays a significant role in the fragrance industry, being a key ingredient in many perfumes and scented products, where its almond scent is highly valued. Beyond its use in the flavor and fragrance industries, benzaldehyde is also employed in the chemical industry for synthesizing other compounds. Its versatility and unique aroma make it an important substance in the manufacturing of a wide array of products.
