Fluralaner is a broad-spectrum insecticide with good insecticidal activity against pests such as ticks, fleas, lice, hemiptera, and diptera.

Fluralaner toxicity is higher than or comparable to commonly used insecticides.

Fluralaner not only has no significant cross resistance with existing insecticides, but also has good insecticidal activity against some resistant pests. 

Fluralaner (A1443) is an isoxazoline ectoparasiticide. It potently and selectively inhibits binding of the GABA receptor channel blocker EBOB to housefly head membranes (IC50: 455 pM).

In vitro activity: A1443 exhibits an IC (50) value of 455 mM by inhibiting the binding of specific gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor channel blocker EBOB to the fly head membrane. In contrast, the IC (50) value in rat meninges is greater than 10muM. A1443 can also block the chloride ion currents induced by GABA and glutamate in African clawed frog oocytes expressing MdGBCl or MdGluCl channels, with IC (50) values of 5.32 and 79.9 nM, respectively. Fluralaner significantly inhibited the in vitro flea reproductive ability, with complete cessation of egg laying only at a concentration of 25.0 ng/mL. Although no egg killing effect was observed, Fluralaner demonstrated a killing effect on juveniles at extremely low concentrations (6.25 ng/mL).

In vivo activity: In a simulated flea breeding home environment, for dogs receiving fluralaner treatment, the flea control effect exceeded 99% at each measurement time point within 12 weeks. No adverse events were observed in dogs receiving fluralaner treatment. After treating MDR1 (-/-) Collies at three times the highest expected clinical dose, no adverse events were observed.
