 Stearyl alcohol, also known as 1-octadecanol, n-octadecanol, molecular formula is C18H38O, belongs to the long chain high carbon fatty alcohols. The appearance is white flake or needle crystal, or block solid, fragrant odor, small volatility, insoluble in water, soluble in chlorofor m, alcohol, ether, aceton e, benzene and other organic solvents. It is slightly toxic, slightly irritating to eyes and skin, combustible, its dust can form explosive mixture with air, mainly used as organic synthetic raw materials.

1. Octadecanol can be used instead of hexadecanol, such as dispersing agent in pharmaceutical, cream cream, emulsifier in cosmetics, rice field insulation agent, reservoir cover agent, defoaming agent, polishing agent, lubricant, etc. Octadecanol can be used in the production of Pingpingjia, resin and synthetic rubber, color film and so on. Antioxidant 1076 (2082-79-3) can be prepared by reaction of octadecanol with methyl ester of β-(3, 5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate with sodium methano l as catalyst and dimethyl sulfoxide as solvent at 130ºC for 2-3h. This IS AN EXCELLENT non-polluting non-toxic antioxidant, widely used in POLYOLEFin, polyamide, polyester, PVC, POLYstyrene, ABS resin to expand all kinds of rubber petroleum products.
 

2. It can be used instead of hexadecyl alcohol as an additive in oil-based fracturing fluids. Octadecanol can be used in the production of Pingping, resin and synthetic rubber, color film colorant, etc.
 

3. Used as a chromatographic reagent. Also used as surfactants, lubricants. Used in organic synthesis.
 

4. In addition, it can also be used to manufacture defoaming agent, flotation agent, softener, rice field insulation agent, water surface covering agent, pharmaceutical ointment raw materials and color film finisher.
