    White loose powder. Insoluble in cold water, slightly soluble in hot acid.

    There are two kinds of BN materials with hexagonal and cubic structure in boron nitride (BN) ceramics. The crystal structure of hexagonal boron nitride has a similar graphite layer structure, showing loose, lubricated, easy moisture absorption, light weight and other properties of white powder, so it is also called "white graphite". Theoretical density 2.27g /cm3; The Mohs hardness is 2. Hexagonal boron nitride has good electrical insulation, thermal conductivity and chemical stability. There is no obvious melting point, sublimation at 3000℃ in 0.IMPa nitrogen, melting point at 3000℃ in inert gas, heat resistance to 2000℃ in neutral reducing atmosphere, the use temperature in nitrogen and argon can reach 2800℃, poor stability in oxygen atmosphere, use temperature below 1000℃. Hexagonal boron nitride insoluble cold water, water boiling hydrolysis is very slow and produce a small amount of boric acid and ammonia; It does not react with weak acid and strong base at room temperature, slightly soluble in hot acid, and can be decomposed by treating with molten sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide. The expansion coefficient of hexagonal boron nitride is equivalent to quartz, but the thermal conductivity is 10 times that of quartz. BN is both a good conductor of heat and an electrical insulator. Its breakdown voltage is 4 to 5 times that of alumina, and its dielectric constant is 1/2 that of alumina. BN stable performance under ultra-high pressure, BN is the lightest ceramic material. Cubic BN is sphalerite structure, high chemical stability, good thermal conductivity and heat resistance, its hardness is similar to artificial diamond, is an excellent abrasive material. Compared with diamond, its most outstanding advantage is that it does not react with iron series metals at high temperatures, and can be used at a temperature of 1400 ° C.

    Uses:
    Hexagonal boron nitride has a layered crystal structure similar to graphite, good lubricity and thermal conductivity, and hexagonal boron nitride is also the raw material for the synthesis of cubic boron nitride. Cubic boron nitride has excellent physical and chemical properties, and its hardness is second only to diamond. Cubic boron nitride is mainly used as high-grade refractory materials, superhard wear-resistant materials, superhard materials made of boron nitride processing, can be made into high-speed cutting tools and geological exploration, oil drilling bits. Because cubic boron nitride also has high thermal conductivity and good semiconductor properties, it is also a semiconductor material with a higher temperature, and is widely used in the field of optoelectronics and microelectronics. In addition, boron nitride can be used in the manufacture of TiB2 /BN composite ceramics, metal molding release agents and metal drawing lubricants and high temperature coatings, in the case of resistance to molten metal corrosion as a thermal enhancement additive, high temperature resistant insulation material. Used as a semiconductor silicon doping source. In aviation and other industries, it can be used as thermal shielding materials in aerospace, structural materials for atomic reactors, and insulators of high voltage and high frequency electricity and plasma arc.
