Triethyl citrate is an oily colorless liquid at room temperature and pressure, and its solubility in water (25ºC) is 6.5g/100cm3. It has a sweet and pleasant fruit wine, plum like aroma.
The compound can dissolve in most organic solvents, but it is difficult to dissolve in oil. The compound has good compatibility with most cellulose, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate resin and chlorinated rubber.
