Remdesivir, also known as GS-5734, is an antiviral drug and a novel nucleotide analog prodrug. Remdesivir inhibits murine hepatitis virus (MHV) with an EC50 of 30 nM and blocks SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV in HAE cells with an EC50 of 74 nM in HAE cells after 24 h of treatment. GS-5734 inhibits epidemic and zoonotic coronaviruses. It was developed by Gilead Sciences to treat filovirus infections such as Ebola virus disease and Marburg virus.
