Overview

Sodium stearate is a white oily powder with a slippery feel and a fatty odor. It is soluble in hot water or hot alcohols. The aqueous solution is alkaline due to hydrolysis, while the alcoholic solution is neutral. It is prepared by the interaction of octadecanoic acid and sodium hydroxide. It is used in toothpaste manufacturing and also as a waterproofing agent and plastic stabilizer.

Purpose

The main applications of sodium stearate: thickener; emulsifier; dispersant; adhesive; corrosion inhibitor. 1. Detergent: used to control foam during the rinsing process. 2. Emulsifier or dispersant: used in the chemical book for emulsification and antioxidant of polymers. 3. Corrosion inhibitor: used in packaging films to provide protection performance. 4. Cosmetics: shaving gel, transparent adhesive, etc. 5. Adhesive: used as a natural glue for re-adhering paper pieces.
