TRH

Overview
Protirelin, formerly known as Thyrotropin-releasing hormone, is a tripeptide hormone released by the hypothalamus. In the late 1960s, it was first purified and synthesized from the hypothalamic tissue of sheep and pigs. TRH is widely distributed in the central nervous system and some peripheral organs. In addition to its endocrine effects, it also acts as an endogenous excitatory neurotransmitter and can produce a wide range of central and peripheral effects. It has a certain antagonistic effect on endogenous opioid receptors, but it does not antagonize the analgesic effect of morphine. In 1981, it was first reported that protirelin has an anti-shock effect.
Uses
In addition to treating shock, protirelin has other uses, such as endocrinology for the treatment of hypothalamic hypothyroidism and central hyperthyroidism. In psychiatry, it is used to treat depression and schizophrenia. In neurology, it is used to treat brain and spinal cord injuries, coma of various causes, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinocerebellar degeneration, senile dementia, epilepsy, etc. Diagnosis: It is used for the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism. Therefore, Prorelin is a drug with good development value and worthy of further research to expand its application range.
Pharmacokinetics
Prorelin belongs to the two-compartment open model. After intravenous injection, it is widely distributed in various tissues and organs, with the highest concentration in the pituitary gland and kidney. Most of it is degraded in the blood and mainly excreted by the kidney.
