Pentapeptide-18 is a modified enkephalin that can bind to enkephalin receptors outside nerve cells and release the G proteome (α, β, γ). In this way, the calcium ion channels are closed, the vesicles cannot fuse, resulting in the obstruction of acetylcholine release and the neurons being in a non-excited state. Therefore, muscle contractions are weakened, preventing the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.
