Tetrahydropalmatine (THP) is an alkaloid extracted from the traditional Chinese medicinal herb Corydalis yanhusuo, belonging to the isoquinoline class of compounds. Between 1928 and 1936, Chinese chemists such as Zhao Chenggu first isolated corydalis A, B (later renamed tetrahydropalmatine), and C from the tubers of Corydalis yanhusuo.
