      Product Detail

Amberlyst 35WET is a macroporous, strongly acidic cation exchange catalyst designed for high efficiency in a wide range of organic reactions. Its open pore structure enhances reactant accessibility, making it an excellent choice for heterogeneous catalysis. Engineered with specialized acidic functionality, it offers superior thermal stability compared to standard polymer-based catalysts. The resin is also highly resistant to oxidation, mechanical wear, and osmotic stress.

As an advanced catalyst optimized for MTBE and TAME production, Amberlyst 35WET delivers significantly greater throughput, typically 20–40% higher than previous generation materials such as Amberlyst 15WET, while maintaining excellent olefin conversion rates and high product selectivity.

Another key advantage is its ability to increase the equilibrium constant in the reaction of isobutylene with methanol, directly contributing to higher MTBE yields. Enhanced acid site density and improved thermal resilience further support longer catalyst lifespans and more efficient overall processing.

    1. MTBE Production

    • Reasons: High acid site density, improved reaction equilibrium, excellent pore structure for reactant diffusion.

    • Benefits: 20–40% higher throughput compared to Amberlyst 15WET, increased MTBE yield, high selectivity, longer catalyst lifespan.

    2. TAME Production

    • Reasons: Strong sulfonic acid groups, robust thermal and mechanical properties.

    • Benefits: Higher isoamylene conversion rates, excellent selectivity for TAME, longer operational life in fixed-bed reactors.

    3. Other Etherification Reactions

    • Reasons: Optimized for acid-catalyzed ether formation, suitable for continuous processing.

    • Benefits: Faster reaction times, fewer side products, consistent long-term performance.

    4. Esterification

    • Reasons: Strong acid functionality, stable in aqueous and organic systems.

    • Benefits: High ester yields, lower catalyst leaching, eco-friendly alternative to mineral acids.

    5. Hydration Reactions

    • Reasons: Catalyzes olefin hydration under acidic conditions, thermally stable.

    • Benefits: High selectivity, reliable performance in industrial setups, reusable catalyst.

    6. Friedel–Crafts Alkylation

    • Reasons: Solid acid catalyst alternative to corrosive liquids like AlCl₃.

    • Benefits: Simplified product separation, reduced hazardous waste, recyclable.

    7. Ion Exchange / Cation Removal

    • Reasons: High cation exchange capacity via sulfonic acid groups, oxidative and mechanical durability.

    • Benefits: Efficient impurity removal, suitable for high-purity applications, reusable with low extractables.

    8. Fine Chemical Synthesis

    • Reasons: Reliable solid acid catalysis for diverse reactions, compatible with complex multi-step processes.

    • Benefits: Cleaner reactions, reduced by-product formation, consistent yields, reusability improves cost-efficiency.
