    Ziram – Broad-Spectrum Protective Fungicide

    Chemical Name: Zinc dimethyldithiocarbamate
    CAS Number: 137-30-4
    Molecular Formula: C₆H₁₂N₂S₄Zn
    Molecular Weight: 305.8 g/mol
Common Formulations: 76% WP, 50% WP, 27% SC
Appearance: Pale yellow powder or suspension
Packaging: 1 kg, 5 kg, 25 kg bags or drums (customizable)

    Product Overview:

Ziram is a non-systemic, protective fungicide that provides effective control against a wide range of fungal diseases affecting fruits, vegetables, and ornamentals. It belongs to the dithiocarbamate class and is commonly used to prevent infections such as scab, blights, leaf spots, and anthracnose.

Ziram is especially valued in pre-harvest applications due to its low toxicity profile and strong surface protection, making it ideal for integration in resistance management programs. It is typically used as a foliar spray in agricultural and horticultural settings.

    Key Features & Benefits:

Broad-spectrum protection against various fungal pathogens
✅ Prevents spore germination and fungal development
No systemic absorption, reducing risk of phytotoxicity
✅ Suitable for fruit and vegetable crops with short pre-harvest intervals
✅ Compatible with most other fungicides and agricultural chemicals
✅ Affordable and highly effective in preventative disease programs

    Target Diseases:

    • Apple scab

    • Peach leaf curl

    • Anthracnose

    • Downy mildew

    • Leaf spot (e.g., Septoria, Cercospora)

    • Brown rot

    • Alternaria blight

    • Shot hole disease

    • Black spot on roses

    Recommended Crop Use:

    • Fruits: Apples, pears, peaches, cherries, citrus

    • Vegetables: Tomatoes, potatoes, cucurbits, onions

    • Nuts: Almonds, walnuts

    • Ornamentals: Roses, geraniums, chrysanthemums

    Application Guidelines:

Crop Target Disease Application Rate Application Timing
Apples Scab 1.5–2.0 kg/ha From green tip through pre-harvest
Peaches Leaf curl 2.0–2.5 kg/ha Dormant spray before bud swell
Tomatoes Leaf spot 1.0–1.5 kg/ha Apply at first signs, repeat as needed

Always follow local label directions and safety regulations.

    Mode of Action:

Ziram acts by disrupting enzyme activity in fungal cells through the inactivation of sulfhydryl groups. This prevents spore germination, halting infection before it starts. Its action is protective, making early-season application essential for best results.

    Toxicity & Safety Profile:

    • Low mammalian toxicity when used properly

    • Not phytotoxic to most crops when used as directed

    • Moderate toxicity to aquatic life – avoid application near water sources

    • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) recommended during handling and spraying

    Storage & Handling:

    • Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area

    • Keep away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight

    • Use within 2 years of manufacturing date for best effectiveness

    Environmental Impact:

Ziram is considered environmentally stable but should be used responsibly to avoid runoff into aquatic environments. Its use in rotation with systemic fungicides helps delay resistance development and ensures long-term efficacy in disease control programs.
