Description

Doramectin is used to treat ectoparasitic diseases such as nematodes and mites in livestock. It is fermented by a new strain of genetically recombinant Streptomyces avermitilis. The main difference from ivermectin is that the C25 position is replaced by a cyclohexyl group. It is a new, broad-spectrum antiparasitic drug that is highly effective against gastrointestinal nematodes, lung nematodes, eye worms, lice, ticks, mites and wound maggots. It also has a good expelling and killing effect on internal and external parasites, especially certain nematodes (roundworms) and arthropods, but is ineffective against tapeworms, flukes and protozoa.
